Map credits
The map of Nepal on the marketplace is built from open data. Here is where each part comes from, the licence it is shared under, and what XoraPro changed.
Province and district boundaries
Nepal subnational administrative boundaries (COD-AB): Survey Department of Nepal and the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Nepal, published by OCHA on the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX).
Licence: Creative Commons Attribution for Intergovernmental Organisations (CC BY-IGO).
Changed by XoraPro: the lines are simplified so the map stays small and quick to load, districts are joined into provinces and ecological belts, and the Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani area is added to Darchula (see below).
Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani
The map follows Nepal's official map, published by the Survey Department on 20 May 2020. COD-AB stops at the older Kali river line, so this area comes from OpenStreetMap relation 13559363.
Contains information from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, which is made available here under the Open Database License (ODbL).
How it was joined: the part of that outline lying outside COD-AB's Darchula replaces the old river line between the same two border points, in the same way in Darchula, in Sudurpashchim Province and in Nepal's outline. It adds about 343 square kilometres (the government states about 335).
The added area is available to everyone under the ODbL. The file below holds the whole area we used.
Towns, capitals and belts
Town points, province capital pins and each district's ecological belt (which sets its colour and height on the map) are XoraPro's own. Every town is checked to sit inside its district, and the belts match the National Statistics Office's census 2021 population totals.
Lumbini Province's pin is in Deukhuri, near Bhalubang, where the provincial government works. Sudurpashchim Province's pin is in Godawari, the capital its Provincial Assembly named.

The boundaries and names shown and the designations used on this map do not imply official endorsement or acceptance by the United Nations or OCHA.
